Even as work continues at their future location just outside the front gates of First Tennessee Park, the team behind Von Elrod’s Beer Garden & Sausage House isn’t waiting for the hammers to stop swinging to get their food in front of potential future fans. All July long, both locations of M.L.Rose will be featuring a future Von Elrod’s dish as their sandwich of the month, a development that makes sense when you consider that M.L.Rose principal Austin Ray is also one of the founders of the sausage house, along with veteran chef Jason Brumm.
The “burger” of the month is actually a chicken sausage sandwich served on a Charpier’s bun. The Angry Chicken will be a homemade chicken sausage seasoned with Tabasco pepper paste, garlic and chives, served with corn, avocado and tomato relish, and buttermilk dill sauce. If you just can’t wait for Von Elrod’s to open, (and it looks like it might be a while) here’s your chance!
For a more extensive sampling of the future roster of sausages coming to Germantown, you can head to the Grow Local Kitchen at the Nashville Farmers’ Market during the Night Market on Friday, July 21. Chef Brumm will be serving a selected menu of his homemade sausage recipes along with side dishes and his artisan pretzels. I’ve sampled a few of the recipes during development, and I can attest that Brumm’s wurst game is strong!
Brumm has previously offered samples at a few ticketed events like Generous Helpings, but this will be the first public opportunity to try out a wider variety of what we have to look forward to. It’ll be a real sausage fest.
