Winter’s here and so is our new beer menu!
We love changing our beer menu with the seasons at Von Elrod’s. Our lineup rotates every few months, so you’ll always have something new to check out. Not to mention, drinking with the seasons is a great way to expand your beer palate!
Every season has its own flavors and brews to match. What’s the difference between summer and winter beer, you ask?
Summer beers are typically light, crisp, and fresh. Winter beers are darker and more complex with deep, rich flavors. Fall and spring beers fall somewhere in the middle. Think of it like this: the darker the weather, the darker the beer.
Von Elrod’s Winter Beer Menu
So, what else makes a winter beer? Winter beers typically have darker malts, more hops, and coffee or chocolate notes. Two of the most common types are stouts and porters. Since they tend to be pretty full-bodied, they’re the best bet for these chilly months when you tend to crave something a little more warming and filling.
Porters have a frothy head and a deep brown, reddish color. They’re usually slightly bitter with a chocolatey flavor. Stouts are dark brown to black, bitter, and rich with licorice, chocolate, or coffee notes.
